In the center of a new retirement village was this old sandstone farmhouse. It needed renovation, but there was also space behind it for another living unit. We got approval for the renovation from the Heritage Committee and added the new unit behind it. To fit the new unit in behind (south) the old and still get northern sun and light in, created the elevated windows above the entrance foyer. Materials used were in harmony with the existing house and the rest of the retirement village.
