Kalahari Erfenis Venue

Kalahari Erfenis is already an established guest farm destination near the Kgalagadi  Transfrontier National Park in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. The clients wanted to add onto the guest house a function venue, restaurant/ kitchen and conference facilities. This area is also situated in an active mining area (manganese) and we used some references in the design to the industrial context. However, our main concern with the design of the complex was to take advantage of the Kalahari views and to protect it from the severe summer climate. The materials, colours and textures used were all chosen to fit in with the existing main house and guest house as well as to fit into its surroundings.
