Highveld House (Walters) Monaghan Farm, Johannesburg (2015 - 2018)

Monaghan Farm is an upmarket Estate next to Lanseria Airport, Johannesburg. The house is for a young couple with their two kids. The concept was to create an environment-friendly house that is in harmony with the beautiful farm surroundings. The silo as pantry (reference to farm harvest and provision) cladded in rusted steel, is the main feature of the house. The layout of the rather large accommodation is in an H- shape plan with a services courtyard. The house is sustainable (60 000 l of water storage, heat pumps, water underfloor heating, PV panels for electricity and an indigenous garden).
