House Morgan
Westdene
(1995-1996)
This house was designed for an author and friend who studied and worked in Switzerland for many years. She wanted something to remind her of Switzerland, yet fit into the Free State. It is a very small house done on a shoestring budget, and to give the feeling and impression of space, an open volume with a loft area was designed housing the study. The southern wall is a bookshelf housing a vast collection of books. Light streams in from the loft windows down into the double volume living space. The writing area in the study in the loft allows for views towards Naval Hill with a clear view of the sky at night.
